The Rolex Datejust 1601 is one of the defining vintage Datejust references, produced throughout the 1960s and 1970s. 36mm case, white gold fluted bezel and the classic pie-pan dial.
This example features a rare Sigma dial, indicated by the small sigma marks at the bottom of the dial, referring to the use of gold for the applied markers.
In addition, this is a so-called Japan Dial. Produced for the Japanese domestic market, where strict regulations limited the use of radioactive materials such as tritium. As a result, these dials were made without lume. No lume plots, no aging from tritium, which often results in a cleaner and better preserved appearance over time.
Powered by the Rolex calibre 1570, one of the brand’s most respected vintage movements.
Fitted on a folded Jubilee bracelet, period correct for the watch. Comfortable on the wrist with the characteristic light feel of these early bracelets.
Overall very good vintage condition with light signs of wear consistent with age.
